ON
THE ROAD TO SUSTAINABILITY
At a time when industry and
individuals are being asked to
consider their impact on the
earth and their ‘carbon
footprint’, Safta is committed
to continuing, increasing and
improving actions and behaviours
to face the environmental
challenge, today as in the past.
Here is an illustration of what
we are doing within our own
organisation to address the
issue.
WHAT
DOES "BIODEGRADABLE" MEAN?
The term “biodegradable” refers
to a material that breaks down
naturally into organic
components as a result of
exposure to moisture, heat and
naturally occurring
micro-organisms. In order to
promote a sustainable approach
to packaging, Safta has recently
developed a Biodegradable
Packaging Solution: Naturene,
made with bio-base raw materials
derived from renewable
resources.
NATURENE: The biodegradable
packaging solution
Naturene consists of a
heat sealable laminate, easy
printable with the standard
printing technologies. Naturene
can biodegrade in just 12 weeks
under optimum composting
conditions, in compliance with
EN 13432. Naturene is available
with oxygen and vapour
high-barrier features. It is
suitable for the most automatic
packaging FFS lines and can be
used for food and non-food
applications.
